A Unique Integrative and Holistic Approach
ChangeWorks is unlike any other hypnosis provider in that we incorporate multiple, highly sophisticated techniques into our client work. While your first session will focus on hypnosis, in subsequent sessions you will be introduced to one or more of the techniques described below, including NLP, hypnoanalysis, brainwave training, EFT, Eye Movement Integration and others. Which techniques are right for you will be determined by your hypnotherapist, based on years of client experience and training, and the responses and results you have with the work.
A truly unique, integrative and holistic approach, your experience at ChangeWorks cannot be compared to any other practitioner in the Midwest. Integrating multiple modalities, when appropriately and expertly chosen for the client by trained professionals, has proven to provide quicker and more lasting results for a wide variety of issues.
Even though all of our clients use similar terms to describe their goals, everyone is different, and everyone’s experience of change is unique to them in many ways. There are numerous techniques that we use with our clients. Which techniques we use to in session with you will vary according to what we discuss and how you experience your issue.
All of our work is client-centered, meaning we fit the technique to YOU, rather than blanket-applying a technique or programmatic approach to everyone and every situation. Because of this client-centered approach, our success rate is very high, and we have hundreds of satisfied clients.
The techniques at our disposal are described below.
NLP (Neurolinguistic Programming). Developed in the 1970s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, and popularized in the 1980s and 1990s by Anthony (Tony) Robbins, NLP is the science of how the brain encodes, stores and retrieves information. It is the study of human excellence. NLP is a broad and deep field, but in this work we commonly use anchoring, an understanding of meta programs, modeling, and techniques that allow you to shift your emotional state “on command” to feel in control. NLP is a very flexible tool for change because the patterns themselves are easy to teach, and do not require being in a hypnotic state to be effective. Many of our clients leave us with one or more NLP tools in their toolkit.
Hypnosis. Although our name is ChangeWorks Hypnosis Center, it could be ChangeWorks Solutions Center because hypnosis is just one of the tools we use, and the goal is really a solution for your current issue or problem–do you really care what method gets you there? Hypnosis is a natural, yet altered state of mind that opens up greater possibility to change subconscious programming–habits, beliefs, attitudes all lie in your subconscious mind. Because of the greater access to the subconscious, the use of hypnosis greatly speeds the process of any desired change. Learn more about current research findings into the effectiveness of hypnosis.
Emotional Freedom Technique (also known as EFT or Tapping). This technique is often taught as “open-eye hypnosis” and is a powerful technique that is akin to self hypnosis in how it works. It integrates suggestion and intention with tapping on acupressure points. Thirty years of studies show EFT to be effective, especially when combined in an integrative program such as the one at ChangeWorks, for anxiety, depression, pain and physical symptoms, phobias, PTSD, weight loss and cravings. As Deepak Chopra says, “EFT offers great healing benefits,” and, like hypnosis, NLP and the other holistic techniques we use, engages the mind-body’s own healing forces to create positive change, often very quickly and often when nothing else seems to work.
EMI (Eye Movement Integration). EMI is a powerful cousin to EMDR, and works by using eye accessing points to integrate memories, and thus create proper perspective in the mind on events from the past. Improper perspective (events from the past feeling like they are happening to you now) is the cause of many feelings of anxiety and fear. EMI, while not easy to explain, is very easy to participate in, and involves a series of programmed eye movements while the client attempts to hold onto the feeling that has been targeted for integration. It can seem magical how quickly EMI can reduce a client’s perception of emotional discomfort (also called the “subjective unit of discomfort”).
Transforming Negative Beliefs. Identifying, eliminating and replacing underlying negative beliefs or “programs” with positive, healthy beliefs that you desire is foundational to long lasting change. We use a combination of NLP and hypnosis to effect these changes.
Mental Rehearsal and Mental Training. These are powerful processes applied on a subconscious level. These processes teach your brain to turn negatives into positives, for example, turning what in the past would have been a distraction into cues for increased focus and other positive solutions to mental “glitches.” Because of the nature of the subconscious mind, mental rehearsal can program and “install” new behaviors much more rapidly, so that they become natural behavior toward your future tasks, challenges and performances.
Mental Training techniques include
- Practicing visualization techniques prepares you to feel more comfortable in future events, even if you have to imagine them.
- A variety of concentration techniques can improve your ability to stay focused on the task. Concentration meditation, which requires steady focus on something is recommended for everyone, though Heart Rate Variability training can improve concentration as well.
- The Adrenaline Dial is an exercise that can help you to tune in to the “arousal” or agitation level of your body, and to coach yourself to lower or raise arousal depending on the demands of the situation, giving you more physical control. This is a very effective technique for our clients with fears and anxiety.
- Hero Meditation teaches you how to learn from peak performers, first by close observation, and then through several stages of imagining and eventually performing the exact behaviors you have observed.
