Is hypnosis something that’s done TO you? Or a natural process? What does science tell us today?
You’ve probably heard some version of this before, if you’ve experienced hypnosis or researched the state. “You experience hypnosis naturally all the time.” “All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.” “Hypnosis isn’t something that’s done TO you…”
I’ve said it myself, to clients and rooms full of students, more times than I care to count.
Every once in awhile I run across an article where somebody says it in a REALLY good way. And today this article came out. One of the best quotes from this article (in MY opinion):
First of all, hypnosis isn’t something that’s done to you. Instead, it’s triggering a process that happens inside you all the time. In fact, you’ve probably experienced it without realizing what it was.
Have you ever been driving, then realized that you don’t remember the last five miles? That’s usually the result of your brain entering a hypnotic state as part of its routine maintenance.
If you’re looking at hypnosis for yourself to help with some issue in your life, or are just curious, I encourage you to give this article a read, and even follow the link to the research they provide. It’s a short read, and well worth the perspective.
Give the rest of the article a look-see here: http://elitedaily.com/life/culture/whats-really-happening-inside-brain-youre-hypnotized/2043096/
Enjoy!
